Welcoming New Manitobans

2016-01-05 - Assiniboine Credit Union is now accepting donations to support Welcome Place as they provide services for Syrian refugees arriving in Winnipeg.

Welcome Place, the transitional housing program operated by the Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council, is the first home that many refugees will have here in Manitoba. As Manitobans, we can make sure that these new Manitobans receive a very warm welcome to their new home.

What Can You Do?

  1. Donate at any ACU branch. Donations will be accepted through the end of February, 2016 and may be made in the form of cash or account debit (for members only). Charitable tax receipts are available from MIIC for donations over $20.
  2. Donate items of food, clothing, household items, or volunteer your time by contacting the Red Cross.
  3. Donate items for children as they prepare for school via Project Backpack.

Money Doing More
Assiniboine Credit Union exists to provide financial solutions and services to all our members, while ensuring that we also create opportunities for those facing various challenges. For those who are new to Canada, this includes removing barriers to accessing affordable financial services, providing loans for foreign professional so that they can get their credentials recognized in Manitoba, creating employment opportunities here at ACU, and ensuring that lower income parents are able to access RESP opportunities for their children.

This is more than charity, this is about creating opportunities for success. This is about values-based banking, where money is our business, and doing more is our purpose.
