November 26, 2009 - Credit Union Central of Canada has advised credit unions about an Interac mail scam circulating in Western Canada.
A promotional letter wrongfully associated with Interac has been circulating. Please be advised that this letter is not from Interac. The promotional letter wrongfully associated with Interac notifies the customer that they have won a large cash prize. A seemingly legitimate cheque is enclosed along with instructions to use the cheque to pay clearance fees on the prize. Do not act on this letter as it is mail fraud.
Interac's security experts are investigating the matter.
