ACU Joins North American Network of Climate Change Leaders
January 31, 2012 - Assiniboine Credit Union is taking another step to reduce its carbon footprint, with the support of the Province of Manitoba.
ACU is one of four Manitoba organizations to receive a Corporate Capacity Building Grant from the Manitoba Climate Investment Pilot Program introduced in 2011 to help Manitoba businesses and not-for-profit organizations measure and reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The grant funds a one-year membership to The Climate Registry, North America’s leading voluntary carbon footprint registry.
“As a Manitoba business, we want to be part of the solution when it comes to taking action on climate change,” said Priscilla Boucher, ACU Vice-President of Social Responsibility and Community Investment. “Membership in The Climate Registry will give us access to the tools, technical support and best practices we need to build a high quality, cost effective inventory of our GHG emissions so we know where to focus our efforts. We look forward to sharing what we learn through The Climate Registry with others in the business community, including our own business members.”
The Climate Registry is a non-profit organization with over 430 business, non-profit, and governmental members from across North America. The Registry provides members with access to a comprehensive and rigorous framework for tracking and reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and is a unique platform for sharing best practices in carbon and energy management.
