“Judy has been lobbying for years—certainly since the flight of the banks from the North End. She understands Assiniboine’s mission is different and we have had many conversations over the years about the potential of the North-End community and the possibility of establishing an Assiniboine branch here.”

Opposite, a photograph Wasylycia-Leis took the day the sign was coming down from the bank building back in 1997. “That’s how we found out they were leaving. It was very different than the collaboration that’s gone on between ACU and local community members,” she says.
